On Saturday, October 13, 2018, DGATV held a ride raising food and funds for the Shepherd’s Cupboard Food Bank in Shelburne. Along with donations of non-perishable food items, DGATV matched the funds raised for a total of $540. Shown in the photo above, a cheque was presented to the food bank by DGATV’s President Tim Allen and Events Coordinator Jamie Thurman.

Harkaway Forest Trail Closed for the Winter
Grey County has closed Harkaway Forest to ATVs effective October 15, 2018.
Riders, please respect our landowner agreement and keep your ATV out of the forest.
Your participation is crucial in keeping this tract available to us.
Harkaway Forest is expected to re-open June 22nd (in order to accommodate the turkey hunt).
Come Ride With Us! Take time out to enjoy life, treasure the outdoors, be thankful for what you have, and share the bounty.
Food bank donations are appreciated at this fall harvest ride and allow us to contribute to the local area.

When: Saturday, October 13, 2018 – 9:00am registration/10:00am ride
Where/Parking: Shelburne parking lot (south off Highway 89 west of Shelburne behind Bird Fuels card lock, west of the rail trail (John St.))
Trail Route: Primarily road, some public and private properties.
Participants: This ride is open to OFATV/EOTA members and non-members. A day pass for non-members cost $20. Memberships ($150) and day passes will be available for purchase.
Two-up riding is allowed, and side-by-sides will be accommodated.
For young operators, aged 12 to 16, the ATV should be sized appropriately for the child’s weight. The child must be accompanied by an adult on the trail. Legally, the child cannot ride on the road without a valid Ontario driver’s license (G2/M2). DGATV does not condone young operators riding on the roads.
Other: As with any ride, it is advisable to dress appropriately and have extra fuel, drinking water, snack, drinks, rain gear, bug spray, basic repair tools, bandaids, compass, map and cell phone on hand. Note that there may not be cell service in the area.

Dufferin Grey ATV Club was happy to team with the Grey Highlands Fire Fighters to raise funds to help purchase an emergency utility vehicle for use by the fire fighters on the trails. In its entirety the event raised over $5,000 for the Fire Fighters.

The event started with the Community Pancake Breakfast at the Markdale Fire Hall followed by the ATV/side-by-side ride. BBQ lunch was served by the Grey Highlands Fire Fighters.
Lottery tickets sold throughout the summer season culminated in the draw at the end of the ride.
DGATV was pleased to present Carter Franks of Dundalk with the $750 tire prize. The prize was accepted by his Dad, Jeff.
Second prize, a Stihl leaf blower, was presented to Rhonda Broderick by DGATV Director and Events Coordinator, Jamie Thurman.
Third prize, dinner at Steven’s Restaurant, was awarded to Jim Houston.
Fourth prize, a night’s stay at the Walters Falls Inn and Spa, was won by Sarah Cripps.
Congratulations to all the winners!
Proceeds from the lottery and the ride will go toward buying a fully equipped UTV, for off road fire and rescue.

Grey Highland’s Fire Fighters’ and Dufferin Grey ATV Club are teaming up to raise funds to purchase a new emergency utility vehicle for the fire fighters.
Start the day with a Community Pancake Breakfast at the Markdale Fire Hall (8am to 10:30am) and then head over to the Markdale parking lot (205 Main St. West aka County Road 12 west) for a trail ride with your ATV or side-by-side.
Be sure to buy your $5 lottery ticket for your chance to win the funds for a new set of ATV/UTV tires! All proceeds to the fire fighters.

Dufferin Grey ATV Club Directors Jamie Thurman and Pete LeMaitre presented cheques to Highpoint Community School and Dundalk & Proton Community School for use by their respective breakfast clubs.
Money raised at our first ride of the season on Saturday, May 26, 2018 ride was matched by DGATV so that each school could receive $330.
