Are you looking forward to summer?
While the Government of Ontario’s haphazard pandemic response still has us questioning our ability to setup club rides, we are hoping for the best and looking forward to a terrific season.
Last year was not a normal summer. Our membership increased but our ability to provide social events was hampered. Despite group gathering limits and other obstacles we managed to keep the bulk of our trails maintained and open to our riders. We deferred our spring annual general meeting (AGM) to the autumn (Nov. 15, 2020) and held it by online conference.
Time to do it again.

DGATV’s Board of Directors consists of seven (7) Directors with two (2) year terms. Theoretically, no more than 50% of the Board should come up for election each year so ideally DGATV never has an entirely new Board of Directors.
Candidates must be on record as a DGATV member for at least three (3) months.

Hello Winter
Despite a somewhat chaotic summer, it was a good riding season.
While we could not offer club rides or other large events due to the ever-changing health regulations mandated by the government’s pandemic response, DGATV had record memberships with a lot of new riders looking to enjoy the great outdoors and learn the ropes.
We always advise new riders to communicate with our more experienced riders by utilizing our private facebook group “Dufferin Grey ATV Club (Group)”
Also don’t forget to check out our facebook page “Dufferin Grey ATV Club Inc.” for news from our Directors.
DGATV is also available on Twitter and Instagram.
Checkout www.dgatv.ca for official updates.
Looking ahead to the 2021 season, ATVing on the public trails generally starts May 1st (weather-permitting) and stays open to November 30th or until snow cover. Once the snow plows are out, ATV rider safety becomes an issue.
Exceptions are:
- Harkaway Forest opens to riding Tuesday-after-Victoria Day-weekend and closes on October 15th.
- Grey County roads opens to riding on April 15th and closes on November 17th.
- Owen Sound and Shelburne open to riding on April 15th.
Note: All dates are tentative dependent on the current pandemic status and the “stay at home” order at the time of opening.
Municipal roads are open but don’t confuse Municipal and County roads … it could cost you a ticket. Check the municipal by-laws (other links) and google maps for clarification. Please “know before you go”.
Unfortunately Walters Falls will be closed to winter riding this year. Part of the property has been sold and we have yet to contact the new owner.
Remember to stay tuned to our social media at the start of season.
Enjoy your winter and holiday season!

Annual Memberships
Dufferin Grey ATV Club (DGATV) and the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs (OFATV) are pleased to offer online membership purchases. Buy a Membership.
If you have any issues with the online purchases, please contact OFATV at info@ofatv.org / 705-797-0797.
The new online system replaces the manual distribution network that used to take significant time in tracking, transporting, and administering paperwork and money. The old system was inherently delayed, which tied up funds, limited management reporting and decision-making. The old system was also limited when it came to Sunday purchases.
DGATV thanks the vendors that used to sell permits on the club’s behalf. We understand that DGATV’s vendors will miss the foot-traffic to their locations, but they won’t miss the paperwork! Please continue to support our local businesses and sponsors, and let them know you appreciate their involvement in your favourite recreational sport.
Day Passes
1 & 3 Day permits are available for purchase online, and will be available at key locations once details are finalized. Print your permit and take it with you when you ride.

Did you have a good summer?
It definitely was not a normal summer for us. The good news is that while our club’s Volunteers were hampered from getting out on the trails by our government’s pandemic response, we managed to keep the bulk of our trails maintained and open to our riders. We also deferred our spring annual general meeting (AGM) to the autumn. Since the Government of Ontario still recommends staying at home and not gathering in large groups, we will be holding this year’s AGM using online conferencing.

DGATV’s Board of Directors consists of nine (9) Directors with two (2) year terms. Theoretically, no more than 50% of the Board should come up for election each year so ideally DGATV never has an entirely new Board of Directors.
However, this year seven (7) Directors positions are up for election with a mix of one (1) and two (2) year terms.
Candidates must be a DGATV member on record for at least three (3) months.
Under the current by-law the Board needs at least four (4) new candidates. Three (3) of the current Directors have agreed to stand again.
If four (4) new candidates do not step forward, the Board will officially recognize that keeping nine (9) Directors positions filled is a difficult task and will put forward a resolution to reduce the number of Directors positions from nine (9) to seven (7), reverting to DGATV’s Board of Directors structure prior to 2017. With acceptance of the resolution, two (2) new candidates will be sought accordingly.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Dufferin Grey ATV Club Inc. is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 1:00pm.
Location: Online using telephone or internet access:
By telephone: call 1.833.569.0242 conf. 2699372 # (permit number required)

- To receive the Report of the Executive for 2019 and the summer season of 2020.
- To hear the Treasurer’s Report.
- To elect (7) Directors positions for one (1) or two (2) year terms to be determined with the goal of a 50% split.
- If all Directors positions cannot be filled, then a Resolution to decrease the number of Directors from nine (9) to seven (7) of whom four (4) shall constitute a quorum and ensuring a 50% split over two (2) year terms. To elect five (5) Directors positions accordingly.
- Due to the online forum, votes will be recorded.
- New business.
Requirement: All Members of the Dufferin Grey ATV Club Inc. are welcome and permit number will be requested for verification.

Walters Falls Tract remains closed pending renewal of the Landowner’s Agreement.
Please honour DGATV’s agreements and promises to protect landowners’ best interests by staying off the property.
Riding or damaging the land makes the club lose credibility and angers landowners, which loses trails. Please consider the future of ATVing in Ontario and stay out of Walters Falls tract for now.
Thank you.
