Dufferin Grey ATV Club Inc (DGATV) was established in 2006 as a volunteer organization focusing on bringing fun family riding to the counties of Dufferin and Grey. Over the years a succession of keen riders have taken the helm of DGATV’s Board of Directors, and we thank each and every one, past and present, for their contribution to the successful operation of our club.
The Board of Directors are responsible for directing DGATV’s operations. The Board sets the policies, priorities, strategy, and upcoming events for the season. The Board is responsible for dealing with the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs (OFATV), all levels of government, the police, landowners, sponsors, communities and members.
DGATV’s Board of Directors meet at 7pm on the third Wednesday of every month excluding December. The Dundalk Legion (Branch #285) is located at 109 Proton St. N. in Dundalk. Other Volunteers, members and prospective members are welcome. Our first meeting of this year is Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
We have 9 Directors with two-year terms (4-5 split in alternate years). If you are interested in becoming a Director you must be a member on record with DGATV for at least 3 months and stand at our annual general meeting (typically held in March). The Directors vote for the President and Vice-President on an annual basis.
To find out more about our monthly meeting, keep an eye on our facebook page: www.facebook.com/DGATV

Message from DGATV’s President (October 2017)

In general ATV season on the public trails starts around May 1st (weather-permitting) and goes to November 30th or until snow cover.
Snow has arrived early this year. That means that the CP Rail Trail is now closed. We have also cancelled our November 26th ride. See you in Spring 2018!
Typically:
Harkaway Forest is closed to ATVs on October 15th (until June 22nd).
Grey County roads close to ATVs on November 17th.
All other public trails and roadways stay open to ATVs until November 30th or snow cover, whichever comes first. Once the snow plows are out, ATV rider safety becomes an issue.
On the private trails at Walters Falls, ATVs can be used year-round. It is recommended that appropriate safety precautions be taken in this remote location, especially in the winter. Tracks are recommended in winter. Ride with a companion and let people know where you are going. Cell phone service may not always be available.
Note that when temperatures dip into the single digits, riding an ATV becomes extremely cold similar to riding a snowmobile. Don’t forget to dress for the weather. More about what to wear for new riders.
Please keep an eye on our social media for confirmation of this seasonal schedule.

We would like to remind everyone that we are a member of the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs. An OFATV trail permit is required to ride on all our trails.
“Buy Where You Ride” is the OFATV motto to support the clubs. Not only does the permit allow you to ride the trails, it also makes you a voting member, and a major portion of your permit funds goes to the club you selected to join.
Permit funds are used by the clubs for trail development, maintenance and repairs. Additionally, each club is responsible for getting road use and land-owner approvals in their area.
The bonus is that your trail permit allows access to all fifteen (15) OFATV clubs’ trail systems and all Eastern Ontario Trail Alliance (EOTA) trails as well. An awesome deal!
For more information see www.ofatv.org.
See you on the trails!
Tim Allen, President
